Biography

Joe Carmolli is a counseling intern at Fountain Hill Center and a Master’s student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Sociology from the University of Vermont and brings more than 25 years of experience in education, including work as a culinary educator and vocational instructor serving adolescents and adult learners.

Joe has a strong commitment to recovery support and is actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, drawing from the principles of the 12 Steps in his understanding of healing, accountability, and hope. He has experience facilitating peer recovery spaces and offering support connected to incarcerated individuals and reentry populations. He is passionate about walking alongside clients navigating substance use, life transitions, and the rebuilding of purpose and connection.

He has particular interest in working with adolescents, individuals exploring gender identity, men navigating identity and fatherhood, and families seeking to better understand and support LGBTQ+ loved ones. Grounded in a family systems perspective, Joe strives to create an affirming and respectful space where clients and families can engage in open dialogue, growth, and healing.

Joe’s counseling approach is collaborative, person-centered, and story-informed. Drawing from his background in theatre, he values the role of voice, identity, and personal narrative in the counseling process and enjoys helping clients explore and author their own stories.

Outside of his clinical work, Joe enjoys theatre and film, travel, cooking, and spending time with his wife and their cats.
