Biography
Kristina Thompson is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed School Counselor. She specializes in working with children and adolescents as they navigate struggles in their daily lives, including anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem issues, and boundary setting, among other challenges. She is passionate about providing a safe, nonjudgmental space for her clients to be their most authentic selves; where they are heard, validated, and understood.
Kristina has experience providing individual child, adolescent, and adult counseling, as well as group counseling experiences. She utilizes a variety of counseling approaches and techniques including: solution-focused, strengths-based techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and play therapy. Kristina takes a person-centered approach, and ensures to adjust her approach to fit each clients’ particular needs and developmental level. Prior to joining The Fountain Hill Center, Kristina worked
in the field of education in a variety of different roles, including behavior intervention, teaching, and school counseling. She has worked with young people aged 3-18 and is well-versed in child development, psychoeducation, and career and post-secondary counseling.
Kristina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Grand Valley State University and a Master’s degree in Counselor Education with an emphasis in School Counseling from Western Michigan University. She continues to attend various trainings and professional development in order to better assist each client she partners with.
