2018 Laughing Matters

The Fountain Hill Center is planning a night of great food and great comedy for Saturday, February 24th! Come join us for Laughing Matters from 6-9 PM at the Shelby Optimist Club and help support our Lakeshore Counseling Office.

This once-a-year fundraiser helps us change the conversation about mental health in Oceana County and provide county residents with the support they need to be well and reach their full potential.

Why It Matters

Last year, Laughing Matters raised enough money to put 230 people into a counseling session. But hundreds more could benefit from having increased access to services. Oceana County has one of the lowest mental health service provider ratios of any county in Michigan, with only 1 provider for every 4,350 people. But about 1 in 5 people will suffer from a mental illness this year.

In order to continue meeting Oceana’s vast need for counseling services, we could use your help!

We Put the “Fun” in Fundraiser

Event tickets are $50, and all proceeds go directly to putting someone in a counseling session. Each ticket includes a fantastic dinner and comedy show from Chicago-based radio host and stand-up comedian, Patti Vasquez.

Patti tackles social issues and the foibles of the human experience with both humor and heart. She has performed at comedy clubs and colleges throughout the US, Canada and Europe, as well as on TBS, COMEDY.TV, and Chicago’s WGN Radio.
