2017 Holiday Open House

On Thursday, December 7, The Fountain Hill Center will be hosting our annual Holiday Open House. Join us from 5:30–8:30 PM for live music, door prizes, hors d’oeuvres & desserts, self-guided walking tours of our three-story Victorian Heritage Hill home, and mini-seminars from our therapists on mental health topics.

At 6:30 PM, we will be holding our annual Porchlight Award ceremony. The Porchlight Award celebrates the work of individuals who prioritize our community’s mental health needs, and this year we are proud to be honoring Cle Jackson. Cle, in his capacity as Senior Community Liaison with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, President of the NAACP Greater Grand Rapids Branch, and President of the Board of Directors for the Baxter Community Center, has worked to expand healthcare information and options to vulnerable and marginalized populations and advocated for ensuring equal access to the kind of support all of us need to truly grow and thrive.

As Amy Van Gunst, Executive Coordinator for the Fountain Hill Center notes, “Too many people still can’t access the care they need, and in the work that we do, we recognize that when individuals are properly valued and supported, the entire community benefits. We see Cle as one important voice connecting the dots between inclusion and realizing a truly healthy community. We are beyond thrilled to be recognizing him for his many contributions to making West Michigan a place where each person’s well-being is nurtured and valued.”

This event is free and open to the public, and is a great opportunity to celebrate the holiday season in a festive and welcoming atmosphere as well as learn more about mental health and wellness options and champions in the greater Grand Rapids area.

Free parking is available in front of the center on Fountain St, and in our rear parking lot, which can be accessed from either College Ave or Fulton St (shared with Central Reformed Church).
